Alexis Dennehy

MPH (Global Health) BHSc (CM) AdvDipNAT DipREM DipNUT

Naturopath, Yoga Therapist & Public Health Practitioner

Alexis started One Natural Therapies in 2003 with the aim of bringing people in Brisbane CBD back to their bodies.  Early in her career she was sought by several large finance corporations for mindfulness and yoga in the workplace.  She gained broad experience coaching and facilitating groups and individuals for over 15 years from her studio in Edward St, downtown Brisbane.

Alexis has provided training to The Australian Taxation Office, Westpac, CommBank, Queensland Treasury, HerbertSmithFreeHill and ClaytonUtz, contributing to the 2011 Australian HR Institute excellence award.  Alexis has worked with several partners and senior executives in the legal and finance sectors, as well as many doctors, nurses, teachers, engineers, scientists and business owners.  Alexis has also worked with numerous schools and preschools, including St Scholastica's College, Brisbane Montessori School, Indooropilly Montessori Children's House and St Peters Lutheran College.  She has completed extensive training and demonstrates ongoing commitment to cultural competency and gender equity.

Alexis has held naturopathic consultation among general practitioners and physiotherapists where she has specialized in maternal wellbeing.  She completed her training in HypnoBirthing (The Mongan Method) and Active Birth Yoga (Ms Janet Balaskas) in 2012 and has taught hundreds of couples to give birth in a humanized way.  In September 2020, Alexis was awarded her Masters of Public Health from The University of Queensland which focused on mental wellness and the experiences of trauma, especially during pregnancy, birth and postnatally.  She completed her Masters Thesis under supervision at The Institute for Health and Biomedical Innovation (IHBI), and was awarded a Research Scholarship by The University of Queensland which she completed at The Institute for Social Science Research (ISSR).

Alexis uses meditation, massage and yoga therapy to facilitate the process of “coming to terms with” or “making sense”.  Clients report feeling less reactive, more level-headed and more comfortable in their own skins.

Alexis has facilitated over twelve 3-day retreats on a dedicated waterfront property at North Stradbroke Island and developed several programs, including The Do-able Detox, BodyWhispering Your Birth (3-track MP3 download) and BodyWhispering Nuts & Bolts (3-track MP3 download).   See Alexis’ YouTube Channel for several hands-on resources including videos for Pelvic-alignment and Pelvic floor strength.
