Yoga

Yoga and meditation are time-tested, clinically proven tools you use to get healthier and happier, more at ease and content. Learning these simple practices allows you to take responsibility for, and generate, your own well-being.

We know the obstacle to your yoga practice is more often than not discipline, so we've made it as easy as possible to give you a time, place and teacher, to simplify the process.

FAQs

What kind of yoga will I learn at One Natural Therapies?

The thread in yoga at ONE is simply awareness. This means that, though traditional postures are used to encourage alignment, the focus is in how the postures are practiced as opposed to the postures themselves.

You can be doing yoga right now if you are reading this with awareness of how your eyes scan the screen, how your breath flows, the judgements that arise and pass or any sensation that you really feel in this moment.

The physical yoga postures (hatha yoga) were originally designed to encourage a more comfortable sitting meditation. Today, they also serve as an intermediate between movement and stillness; a way to bring the mind to the body, and relieve many common imbalances.

Each class is designed to be well-rounded, appropriate to the group and sensitive to the individual's needs.

The intention of all classes is to provide you with a repetoire of beneficial and enjoyable movements and practices, to develop your own expression and understanding.

Classes are diverse and taught in a way that makes it possible for everybody to enjoy regardless of experience level.

Do I need to bring a mat?

Private Yoga /  Yoga Therapy

You know for yourself, how much more energy you invest when you are being individually observed - every muscle is activated, your concentration peaks, your presence is heightened, and this steep learning curve is revealed in your progress.

Benefits of Private Yoga :
Sessions can be scheduled to suit your lifestyle.
Specific injuries and conditions can be corrected.
Areas of particular interest can be explored (eg philosophy, meditation, strengthening, toning, relaxation)
Pregnancy can be supported with utmost personal care.
Sessions can be held at the studio, in your own home, in a boardroom or office space or (the favourite) an outdoor setting amongst green leaves and a fresh breeze.

The Format:

Our first session is a chance to look at your present situation and goals.  The more specific and personal your intention, the better your results, so we spend time clarifying what you really want.

Clothed massage is often incorporated aiding both postural analysis and relaxation. Please let us know if your preference is otherwise.

In the next few sessions, we'll explore modified and traditional postures, refining them to most benefit your body, constitution and objectives.

The last stage is the integration of your practice in daily life, and building upon consistency as a solid foundation. Ongoing support is available in the form of group casual classes and "check-in" follow up visits.

10-Day Yoga & Meditation Intensive

The key to success in meditation and yoga is consistent practice. The practice is simple, but not always easy, as growth doesn’t necessarily feel good. Things are often most difficult in the beginning, when the mind is wild and untrained. In 10 days of intense, supported practice you will build mental and physical strength and discipline by training your mind and navigating the challenging and rewarding process of mental detoxification. You will build concentration and equanimity and begin to enjoy the results.

We will spend some time talking, questions are encouraged. You will learn how to practice. Mainly we will do lots of practicing – sometimes involving specific physical postures, and sometimes sitting or lying still.
